i-Hub

i-Hub Building, Ahmedabad The Student Start-up and Innovation Policy (SSIP) is a unique initiative of Government of Gujarat that creates a state-wide, university-based ecosystem to support innovations and ideas of young students. Under this policy, an innovation hub (i-Hub) was planned in the campus of Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat (KCG) in Ahmedabad. The five storied innovation hub is a collaborative research and development co-working space with different zones that allow for diverse formats of workspaces. The main office areas comprise individual cabins and open-plan workstations, which are placed alongside collaborative spaces like meeting rooms, multipurpose halls, auditoriums and workshops. The office also consists of an informal interactive space on the ground floor, where a common double height space is used as a presentation area. Additional facilities include the cafeteria and gymnasium. These spaces are effectively segregated from support areas like copy rooms and lockers, and the service core of the building. The climate-responsive facade system consists of aluminum-framed sliding windows, screened on the outside by a Vertical Rigid Louver System (VRLS) with cement-bonded fiber-board panels. This system allows diffused daylight into interior spaces. The building also features exposed utilities that are easily serviceable and replaceable, ensuring hassle-free maintenance.
